Salesforce releases are major updates packed with new features, improvements, and fixes to make the platform better. They happen three times a year: Spring, Summer, and Winter. Check out the key dates for the upcoming Summer ’25 release in the snapshot below.
Let’s explore each Salesforce Flow Updates
1. Improved Flow Creation Experience
Salesforce introduced a new flow selection experience in the Spring ’25 release for creating flows, but it was only available through the Automation app opened from the App Launcher. With the Summer ’25 release, you can now access this new experience directly from Setup when creating a new flow.
2. Enhanced Flow Builder Canvas
As you open the Flow Builder Canvas, you’ll notice a fresh new look on the flow canvas. The old element icons are being replaced with modern canvas cards. These cards let you access more options with a simple click on the three dots, and you can hover over the little info ‘i’ icon to see a quick description of what each flow element has.
Keep in mind, this updated flow canvas is only available if you’re using auto-layout. If you’re still working with the manual layout, you’ll continue seeing the classic element icons.
3. Upgraded Choice Resource with SLDS Icons
You can now level up your standalone choice resources by adding Salesforce Design System icons to them.
You can use these enhanced choices in the Choice Lookup or Visual Picker components to create a smoother, more intuitive experience for users.
4. New Visual Picker Element
Salesforce has introduced a new ‘Visual Picker’ screen element in Flow, making it easier to create a more interactive and visually engaging selection experience for users.
You can now use choice resources with icons to make your screen flow interactive.

5. Reactive Screen Actions Became Generally Available (GA)
With the Summer ’25 release, Reactive Screen Actions in screen flows are going GA (generally available). Now, you have more control over when the action runs, like:
- Every time the screen loads or every time except when the user clicks the Previous button (recommended)
- Only the first time it loads
Plus, you can now set filter conditions to decide exactly when the action should run, making your flows even smarter and more efficient.
6. Size Picker in Screen Element in Screen Flow
With the new Size Picker in Flow screens, you can now preview how your screen component will look across different screen sizes. It comes with three handy options:
- Large: Great for full-page views or big sections on a Lightning page. It is selected by default.
- Medium: Perfect for modals, like ones launched from quick actions.
- Small: Ideal for mobile views or utility bar components.
7. Enhanced Flow Debug Panel
The debug panel is getting a major upgrade, and you’ll now see each Flow element neatly organized into individual cards. You can also increase the width of the debug panel.
Click the dropdown on each card to dive deeper into how that element is working behind the scenes. It’s a much cleaner and more detailed view of your Flow’s execution.
It is important to note that this enhanced debug experience isn’t available for Screen Flows for now.
8. Enhanced Send Email Action in Flow
The Send Email core action just got a major upgrade. The inputs are neatly organized into sections, making the setup way more intuitive. You can even pass Attachment IDs as a text collection now.
You no longer have to type out the Sender Type, you can also choose it from a dropdown.
9. Updated Flow Approval Process
When creating a new Flow Approval Process from the Approvals home page, you can now either start from scratch or use a Wizard that helps generate paths, stages, and decision elements.
You just need to fill in the criteria and steps. There is also a new option to add a recall path, making Approval Flow Orchestration even more powerful and flexible.
10. Expand Search Options in Resource Picker
In the Summer ’25 release, we now have an optional beta feature for a smarter resource search experience.
11. Upload File Mandatory in Screen Flow
You can now make it mandatory for the user to upload the file before moving to the next screen using the Screen flow.
You can now upload files in screen flows across Aura, Lightning Web Runtime (LWR) sites and Lightning Experience. Since it is still in beta, you’ll need to enable it first by heading to Setup > General Settings
